The Game of Washers, Bariboshi style
One box, a rubber 20 feet away, a pack of 3 washers, and the first to 21 wins.
The Game of Washers is the original game of Zabbadat (also searched as Zabadat). You pitch washers underhand at one box with a single recessed cup, from a rubber 20 feet (6.10 m) away. A turn is one pack of 3 washers, and the first player or team to reach 21 points wins the match.
How washers score
- Bank, 5 points: the washer strikes the idle Zabba behind the box, then rests in the box or the cup.
- Shoot, 3 points: fully in the cup.
- Box-bound, 2 points: anywhere in the box.
- Out, 0 points: outside the box, or a fouled washer.
Only the highest legal value counts for each washer. A match opens with the Bariboshi: each player pitches one washer, and the closest to the cup pitches first.
The Zabba is an official piece. Idle, it is a backboard. Summoned, it is a blocker. Your phone can also count your steps between pitches, so chasing 21 gets you moving.
Zabba Washer Battle
Play one on one, phone to phone. You pitch at your own box and report each pitch, your opponent confirms or disputes it, and the first to 21 wins. You can add a ZAB wager: both players put in the same amount, the winner takes the pot, and leaving or going silent for 30 seconds is a forfeit. Clean matches build your reputation. Read the full official regulations and how ZAB works.
